Love Over Fear VIDEO PORTRAIT · VHS · 720p Miami · May 2025

Pipa, an enigma cloaked in shadows and silk, emerges through the flickering scanlines of a VHS tape. Each frame exhales the whispers of untold tales, a voiceless symphony woven into the analogue magnetic tape. As the screen crackles with static, it seems to murmur, “That girl is the rain.” In this fragmented, imperfect medium, she becomes art: a haunting vision that lingers long after the tape has ended.

The month of May has been hectic, driving, riding Brightline, flying between Miami, Seattle, Trinidad, and Orlando. Meeting new and old friends brought me an idea, and reminded me of an old Mitch Albom line: “Nothing haunts us like the things we don’t say.” (Tuesdays with Morrie and One More Day are great reads, by the way.)

It’s been a month of blessings and gratitude, a reminder of how important it is to tell the people you love that you love them. You never know if it’s the last time you’ll share a coffee or a beer. “The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in.”

Remember to be excellent to each other, and party on. 🤟

A note on the craft: shot at 720p, so I leaned all the way into a VHS aesthetic, the feeling of watching a home video of your past, raw beauty over digital filters. Like the scars on your body, they show that you’ve lived; the scars on your heart show that you’ve loved.

Show me something natural, I wanna feel some stretch marks.
