Verano

Miami · Jan 2015

Verano, summer in a single roll. Miami Beach, the big pale tower behind us, palms going hazy in the distance and the ocean a flat band of gray-green out past the sand. Overcast, actually, which I’ll take any day over hard noon sun. The light just wraps around everything.

Emma’s down in the sand, propped on one arm, floral bandeau and a coral bottom, a stack of bracelets and a couple of rings doing the talking. Red lips again, because why fix what works. The wind kept lifting her hair off to one side and I just let it. You don’t fight a thing like that, you wait for it.

The whole set was easy. Sun, water, sand that gets absolutely everywhere, and a subject who hits her marks before you’ve finished asking. Not one wasted frame, and I mean that. Some days the beach gives you everything and all you have to do is not get in the way.
