Sin guardia, guard down. Bianca, straight-on and unhurried. One of those sessions that’s really just a long conversation with a camera quietly in the room.
We shot this one out on the rocks, the pitted gray coral you get along the water here, with the sea haze and a palm or two blown soft behind her. She laid her head down on her arm and just looked back at me. Red lips, red nails, a gold ring catching the sun, and none of it competing with her eyes. Those win every time.
The light was that flat bright kind that’s supposed to be hard to work with, and I kept waiting for it to be a problem. It never was. She held the frame so calmly that I mostly stayed out of the way and let the rock and the salt and the warmth do their thing. Some people you photograph, some people you just get to be in the room with. This was the second kind.
